Pear & Gorgonzola Salad

November 3, 2019 by Kayley 4 Comments

*This Pear & Gorgonzola Salad is so simple to throw together and makes a great appetizer or side dish for any holiday gathering!

Pear & Gorgonzola Salad

Serving a dish that’s stunning and delicious certainly doesn’t need to be a complicated affair.

This salad is a testament to that.

Pears are so very beautiful. Such a shame to chop them into little pieces when their hourglass shape can serve as inspiration for a dish full of texture and layers, all centered around that simple outline.

Any variety of pear will work for this salad but I prefer D’anjou – it’s firm but juicy, and is usually smooth fleshed, not grainy as some varieties tend to be.

Pear & Gorgonzola Salad

The salad itself is basic- slice pears straight up and down leaving each about 1/4″ thick, then arrange on a platter, slightly overlapping each slice.

Top with candied pecans(or walnuts!), crumbles of gorgonzola(blue cheese or stilton would also be appropriate), and then a little drizzle of honey.

That’s it! Simple, but lovely.

Pear & Gorgonzola Salad

I’ll definitely be pulling out this dish for my holiday gatherings this year. Don’t we all need a simple go to when everything is all hustle and bustle? I sure do.

  • Who can resist a reason to combine food, @RobertMondavi wine, and friends during the holidays?! This year I’m throwing a BYOQ - bring your own Quiche party, complete with a bottle of Robert Mondavi Winery To Kalon Vineyard Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine delivers deeply intense blackberry and plum flavors across the palette with sweet oak, toasted almond, and vanilla bean layers. The complex flavors and juiciness from the fruit make for the perfect holiday pairing. Which quiche would you bring? I’m opting for a classic Quiche Lorraine and a Florentine version as well. #Msgfor21 #RobertMondaviPartner #RobertMondaviWinery

I know that the holiday shopping flurry has begun for most of you and I want to take a second to share a favorite shop of mine that specializes in stunning hand-carved spoons, scoops, etc. @poldersowm is a family-run, farm living, beauty creating group of siblings(and parents!) that craft the most beautiful things by hand.
I’ve been an admirer for years.
I think the things we choose to use in our daily lives are so important. Even the little things like spoons. Scooping out a mound of coffee beans and watching them fall off of a smooth, beechwood scoop into the grinder - it adds to the beauty of my day and is such a simple pleasure.

This holiday season, support the handmade, the craftsman, the artist.
Bring quality and heirloom pieces into the lives of others. My friends over at @poldersowm were nice enough to give me a code to share with you -
