Golden Glow Juice

March 4, 2018 by Kayley 2 Comments

Golden Glow Juice

I admit, I’m a bit of a seasonal juicer. Through Autumn and Winter I’m more focused on warm foods. Soups, teas, heavy meals that warm both body and soul. Then March comes and I remember that green exists on this earth and will soon be springing forth out of the frozen ground that surrounds my home. In anticipation of spring and the bright colors, fresh produce, and warm air that it brings with it, I begin juicing again.

This Golden Glow Juice was our first of the season. Sweet and bright, earthy and a bit spicy, this juice is a welcome wake up call in the morning, or an invigorating afternoon pick me up. Its vibrant color comes from fresh yellow pineapple, golden beets, and a little fresh turmeric. Ginger adds a punch of spicy flavor along with bringing along its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.

I juice the entire pineapple. Not the spiny skin, obviously, but I don’t throw away the core. The core is full of bromelain, having a higher concentration than even the flesh and skin. Bromelain is a protein enzyme with abilities to reduce pain and inflammation. Don’t throw out that wonderful natural medicine! Pop it into your juice and smoothies instead! Or make my favorite anti-inflammatory tea.

Just like the pineapple core, turmeric also features anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. I love adding the fresh root to my juice and smoothies but if you can’t find the fresh you could mix a bit of powder into the juice before straining.
