Tangled/Rapunzel Birthday Party

I Can’t believe that I never blogged about this party. This happened over two years ago when my oldest turned 4 years old.

You remember when tangled came out and was all the rage. This party was dreamed up in honor of little A’s favorite movie of the time.

1 Ava's 4th Birthday 033

I made the invitations to look like Rapunzels tower with her hair, ready to climb(and styled with flowers as per the motion picture).

Little gals were greeted at the door, again, my Rapunzels flowing locks. I braided yellow yarn(with the help of a few others!) and tied it with a ribbon, then hung it over the front door.

The dinner spread. This project was done on the cheap, so to make the rustic crates and containers to hold the food I simply glued popsicle sticks to cardboard boxes and tin cans and then stained them a walnut shade.

16 Ava's 4th Birthday 214

I found cheap purple velvet on clearance at the fabric store which I sewed into banners, glued over wood dowels hung on yellow ribbon, and then cut and hot glued yellow felt to the banner to look like the trademark sun in Tangled.

We had Mother Gothel’s hazelnut soup(find the recipe here), served in little cups with labels tied to them.

Bread and butter and assorted fruit….village fare?

Candid Apples in honor of Maximus the guard horse. He seemed to favor these.  Recipe here!

I bet Rapunzel eats watermelon. Don’t you think? Regardless, I though melon cake pops would be fun.

14 Ava's 4th Birthday 433

Jello with little lemon boats. Remember that last scene in the boat with the floating lanterns in Tangled.  I still think its magical(Yeah, I’m a sap for Disney love stories).

12 Ava's 4th Birthday 184

8 Ava's 4th Birthday 176

The Birthday Cake. Doubles as a present(thanks, Barbie Rapunzel!)

18 Ava's 4th Birthday 230

The girls colored pictures from the Tangled movie. Most printables are free!

19 Ava's 4th Birthday 246

We played pin the frying pan on Flynn Rider. The girls loved it!

17 Ava's 4th Birthday 208

I sewed little burlap satchels and filled them with crowns and other princess paraphernalia for party favors.

To end the night we sent off floating lanterns into the sky. These can be found online for cheap as well! We kept the lanterns on strings just in case. I would hate to be responsible for burning down a house! The wind was not in our favor that night. But overall it was a fun activity and the girls were big fans!

Kay loves throwing huge elaborate birthday parties as you can see here with this Rapunzel (or Merpunzel as Kier says) She put so much work into this, (you’re amazing!) and Ava loved it, as did all the girls at her party. The cake pops were my favorite=)

Emily, thank you so much, you’ve really made my day! I wish I was YOUR neighbor. That lemonade stand looked like a force to be reckoned with, I am so sad I didn’t get a chance to make it down this last season! I hope you’ll do it again this year!
